Lakers with Last Minute Surprise

Okt 29, 2023 | EWHL

European Women’s Hockey League (EWHL): Perfect week for the KEHV Lakers – after a 4-1 road win in Graz the Carinthians surprised with a 5-4 against MAC Budapest…

After trailing 0-1, 1-3 and 2-4 against last season’s vice Champion the Lakers fought back on home ice and 35 seconds before the end of the regular time Christina Schusser scored the game winner with her third goal that evening. With that win the Lakers climbed on 5th place in the standings with now 11 points out of 5 games. MAC has already the chance on Sunday to go for the next points again when they will play against the KSV Neuberg Highlanders, the only team with no points so far.

Another Budapest team meanwhile had an excellent start into the 2023-24 EWHL league season – Hokiklub Budapest won all games until now. Though the game against SKN Sabres St. Pölten on Saturday was a tough one but ended with a 1-0 win. But there’s no break after that: on Sunday, the Hungarians will already host the game against newcomer EC Graz Huskies who could celebrate a 4-3 in overtime against BJA on Saturday and so their first win in EWHL history. These two teams have already faced each other in a prior encounter during the group stage of the Super Cup, where KMH Hokiklub SE secured a 3-0 victory against the Graz-based team…
