4 Road Wins
European Women’s Hockey League (EWHL): 4 games were played on Saturday and in all these games the road teams left the ice as winners…
The biggest surprise were the 3 points Salzburg could take from Graz – while the home team could score only 2 goals out of 58 shots on goal Salzburg needed 20 to score three times. So after 665 days without a win the Eagles could celebrate again. Another surprise was the 2-1 road win of the SKN Sabres St. Pölten against MAC Budapest. Sabres Goalie Magdalena Luggin stopped 38 of 39 shots and her team scored twice from 23 opportunities. Aisulu Almaty was leading 3-2 when leader Tauron Metropolia Silesia managed a late comeback with a goal 45 seconds before the end. However – in the shootout the guests from Kazakhstan grabbed the second point which also meant the second loss this season for the Polish team. In Klagenfurt the Lakers fought bravely against SKP and where leading until 40th minute – in the end Bratislava had a 2-1 road win and 3 more points.
